In 2016, I completed a project of visiting every country in the world. Without a travel blog, I doubt it would have been possible. I'm a very picky traveller and don't enjoy staying in noisy, dirty places, which many people are often limited to. I started a blog after having travelled on a low budget and at cheaper places, and it gave me fantastic opportunities to stay in comfortable places and later on obtain sponsorships with airlines.
It all began in 2009 when I wrote to the D'Angleterre Hotel in Copenhagen and was offered a low price for a one-night stay. My tactic was to be flexible, requesting one night and offering an article. Starting a travel blog in 2009 was a great idea. I was offered heavily reduced prices at comfortable and luxurious hotels, making some exciting trips possible.
A big breakthrough came when JW Marriott in Bangkok did not offer a discount but a complimentary stay for two nights. It was an extraordinary moment, and it opened new opportunities for me as I grew my travel blog with more references and articles about great hotels.
After that, I collaborated with more hotels on a complimentary basis, allowing me to stay at excellent hotels and reduce costs. While exploring different destinations one at a time, I later became active on social media and started to get a following in 2012.
The same year, I had my first collaboration with an airline, which made a huge difference in my ability to continue to travel full-time. Collaborating with hotels and airlines was the main reason for being able to visit every country in the world. After visiting every country in the world, CNN, BBC, and many other prominent media outlets interviewed me, and I gained many more followers.
A woman in Brazil read an article about me and added me on Facebook. I wrote to her, and we got married less than a year later. Collaborating with hotels and airlines changed my life. This ebook is a quick guide on how to build an online travel influencer brand.
