Songs of Sorrow
Songs of Sorrow (2012)
Duration: approx. 14 mins
These songs were composed for The Firm New Music, who in 2012 presented a series of concerts inspired by the works, thoughts and experiences of composers and artists who spent time in the Theresienstadt ‘Show Camp’ during World War 2.
Songs of Sorrow sets poetry by the American poet Edna St Vincent Millay (1892-1950). The texts and the resultant music speak of strength in the face of disaster, of death, war, loss, conviction and of hope.
