Slow Queering Communion: Interspecies Learning Practices with Moss Piglets

Learning to be with more-than-human worlds, slowly and otherwise.

How does a tardigrade enter cryptobiosis? How might a group fall asleep together in a forest? What could we learn from fungi, and from soil? For five years, Moss Piglets has followed the paths of curating, art education, and interspecies learning — turning encounters like these into an artistic practice, learning from the living world, and relearning how art, education, and ecology relate to one another.

Slow Queering Communion: Interspecies Learning Practices with Moss Piglets is Moss Piglets' first publication, and the first gathering of five years of curatorial research and practice. Beginning in the curatorial field and following its encounters with the more-than-human world, the book develops a body of thinking on rest, metabolism, perception, intelligence, and holobiont pedagogy — and, through curatorial essays, archives, artist conversations, and participatory workshop exercises, invites readers to extend reading into a practice of learning together.
