1940, California shines under the glittering illusion of Hollywood’s Golden Age. But away from the flashing cameras and movie palaces, the rain-slicked streets tell a much darker story. In this world, Toons—flesh-and-ink animated beings—coexist with human society, but they are far from equal. While a privileged few become studio stars, the majority are treated as an exploited second class, forced into the fringes of urban life.
