Unforgotten is an inspired piece that came out of the unfortunate accident at the Dallas Commemorative Air Force air show in 2022, involving a B17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra. I composed this piece in rememberance of the victims of the tragic air accident involving Terry Michael Barker, Kevin Dimitri Michels, Daniel Alexander Ragan, Leonard Lloyd Root, Curtis James Rowe, and Craig Stephen Hutain. These men were dedicated members of the CAF and unmistakbly passionate about historical aircraft, their maintenance, their legacy, and the overall service to the aeronautical industry as a whole. Unforgotten is written at a slow tempo with the direction to play the notes as smoothly and connected as possible, not only resembling the unity of the men on that day and the peace that they and so many pilots feel while flying, but the smooth breeze of the air that flowed beneath their wings, and the air that they now get to ride for the rest of time. The warmth in the timbre of the cello greatly brings out a sound that one can feel to their core, while at the same time surrounding those who listen with a reciprocated joy that these amazing men felt any time they were airborne or were within their domain.
