As mohair and brushed Suri alpaca yarns have gained popularity, questions remain—mostly, what should we do with them? Holding one of these laceweight yarns double with a more traditional yarn is a popular option, and I wanted to explore it a bit further in this quick cowl design. Love Lies Waiting is worked primarily in a 2-color brioche, but rather than just use different colors, I’ve alternated between working with a single strand of DK weight and holding it double with a laceweight Suri alpaca.
The result is a cowl with not only two distinct colors, but textures as well. It’s topped off with a double layer collar that can be folded over, either side worn facing out—a truly reversible piece and a fun project for those single skeins in your stash.
