Kentucky Crepuscule

A grandfather and his two grandkids go for a walk on a majestic autumn evening in a field in western Kentucky. When the three of them seem to all see something strange, their wonderings rapidly multiply. Was the image related to a tragic event way back in the past? Or, were they just cleverly pranked?
