Halloween Writing Practice Directed Drawing Halloween Paragraph Writing and Draw
This Halloween Write and Draw resource combines a step-by-step directed drawing with paragraph writing practice for grade 2 to 5 students. Students follow a simple directed drawing, create a Halloween-themed illustration, and then write a paragraph inspired by their artwork.
Drawing first means students are not staring at a blank page. They have something visual and personal to describe, explain or imagine. The drawings include jack-o'-lantern, witch's hat, cat, ghost, vampire, werewolf, mummy, monster, skeleton, bat, cauldron, broomstick, candy corn, scarecrow, moon, Frankenstein's monster, spider, owl, witch and pumpkin.

HOW TO USE IT
Use the pages for morning work, writing centers, early finishers, sub plans, independent practice, October writing or homeschool writing practice. Print single pages as you need them, or turn the set into a full Halloween write and draw booklet that students work through over time.
Because the writing grows out of their own artwork, students have a stronger sense of ownership. They can describe a spooky setting, imagine a character or build a paragraph from their visual ideas. It is especially helpful for reluctant writers, visual learners and students who benefit from a drawing prompt before writing.
