After the incredible creativity and community spirit of last year’s Months of the Year Blanket CAL, I knew I couldn’t resist bringing everyone together for another collaborative crochet adventure. And this time, I’ve teamed up with nine fabulous designer friends to create something truly special — a calm, gently paced CAL inspired by the timeless charm of a British country garden.

With one beautiful section released each month, this CAL is designed for slow, satisfying crochet sessions — perfect for busy schedules, cosy evenings, or anyone who loves to savour their stitches without feeling rushed. And by the end of the year, you’ll have a stunning, heirloom-worthy blanket ready to enjoy (though if you’re anything like me… this one won’t be leaving the sofa! 😉).

What is a CAL?

A CAL, or Crochet Along, is a fabulous community event where crocheters across the globe work on the same pattern simultaneously. It unfolds in stages, providing the perfect opportunity to share your progress and inspire fellow crafters.

How Will This CAL Work?

Starting January 1, 2026, a brand-new section of the British Country Garden Blanket will be released on the 1st of every month.

The FREE graph for each motif will be available on the contributing designer’s blog — this CAL features creative contributions from 10 talented designers across 11 beautiful sections!

Prefer to have everything from day one? The FULL eBook — including written and graphical instructions for the entire blanket, UK & US terms, and a large print option — will be available ahead of the CAL launch.

And if you want to personalise your blanket even further, don’t miss the optional Bonus Pack, which includes an extra motif (the Bonnie Scottish Thistle), full instructions for the Cosy Cottage Tulips, and a handy CAL WIP tracker to keep you motivated all year long.

The CAL will be hosted in the Elimee Designs Facebook Group, where you can share your progress, get help if you need it, and connect with fellow crocheters taking part in this year-long project.

Materials

The sample photographed above was crocheted using Yarnsmiths Create DK.

Yardage is based on a single-sided blanket, 5 repeats wide, with a plain border on one side and a patterned border on the other:

Colour A (Cream) – approx. 3265m / 3571 yds
Colour B (Light Sage) – approx. 934m / 1022 yds
Colour C (Petal Pink) – approx. 542m / 593 yds
Colour D (Lilac) – approx. 531m / 581 yds
Colour E (Lemon Yellow) – approx. 354m / 388 yds

A coordinating yarn pack for this palette is available from Wool Warehouse.

You will also need:

3.5mm / E-4 crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Stitch markers (optional)
Row counter (optional)

Final blanket size (without border):

Approx. 135 x 193 cm / 54 x 77.5 inches

The final blanket (based on five repeats across) works up into a beautifully soft and generously sized throw - perfect for year-round comfort and snuggling.
