Sometimes the most important support we can offer is to say “I Believe You” without questions or qualifications. I believe that things happened as you say, that your lived experience is true, that your identity is as you describe.

The ability to be believed without question is a power that privileged people often take for granted, but that society withholds from those that are marginalized. The I Believe You Beanie is intended as a message of support to marginalized folx - you do not struggle alone and your struggles are not imagined.

The pattern is most visible in colors with less variegation, but also works well to break up highly variegated colors.

Construction

The beanie is worked in one piece from the top down. It’s worked in a spiral so there’s no visible seam.

Overview of the Finished Object

The beanie is worked from the top down. The center back is all squishy puffs, it breaks out into a series of puffy hearts, columns of which swirl down the side of the beanie. The beanie ends without a noticeable border.
