Who will manage your finances if you can't?

A Continuing Power of Attorney for Property authorizes a person you trust — your Attorney — to manage your financial affairs: banking and investments, buying, selling, or mortgaging real estate, paying bills and debts, filing your taxes, and dealing with the CRA. "Continuing" is the key word: unlike an ordinary power of attorney, it remains valid even if you become mentally incapable — which is precisely when it matters most. Without one, your family may need a costly court application just to pay your bills.
