Going on a Field Trip Flap Book Social Narrative
This "Going on a Field Trip" flap book is the perfect way to help students understand the steps of a field trip while building sequencing, comprehension, and fine motor skills.
Each flap includes a short, kid-friendly sentence about what to expect during a field tripโfrom getting ready in the morning to returning back to school. Students will cut along the dotted lines to create flaps, then lift each flap to draw their own illustrations underneath that match the sentence above. It's a fun way to personalize the experience and reinforce the routine!
๐๏ธ How to Make the Flap Book:
- Print one copy per student on regular paper or cardstock.
- Have students cut along the horizontal black lines between each step to create flaps (leave the left edge uncut).
- Read each sentence together and discuss what it means.
- Lift each flap and draw a picture underneath that shows that part of the trip (e.g. packing a backpack, riding the bus, exploring a museum, etc.).
- Optional: Color the cover or decorate with stickers for extra flair!
Itโs simple, low-prep, and works great as a pre-field trip activity or reflection piece afterward. Plus, it makes for a great keepsake for students to take home and share with their families! ๐๐๐
