Lyrics
[Verse 1] The news is on my tongue
Good news for the poor
A banner in the dust
By the broken door
To bind up every wound
To open every chain
To call the faint back home
And sing life to the lame
[Pre-Chorus] Tell the captured heart
You are not forgot
Tell the heavy soul
There is more than loss
Chorus] Oil of joy
Oil of joy
For the ashes on my head (oil of joy)
Oil of joy
Oil of joy Beauty rising in its place (oil of joy)
[Verse 2] Garments for the grief
A clean and shining name
Praise from a dry old tree
Burning back to flame
They'll build again in peace
They'll plant in patient rows
Where sorrow made its bed
New gladness grows
[Pre-Chorus] Tell the captive heart
You are not forgot
Tell the weary bones
There is more than loss
[Chorus] Oil of joy
Oil of joy
For the ashes on my head (oil of joy)
Oil of joy
Oil of joy
Beauty rising in its place (oil of joy)
[Bridge] And we will lift you up
Like cedars in the rain
And we will turn and dance
 With robes of praise
For every ruin touched
For every tear removed
 For every sainted seed
That blooms anew
[Final Chorus] Oil of joy
Oil of joy
For the ashes on my head (oil of joy)
Oil of joy
Oil of joy
Beauty rising in its place (oil of joy)
Oil of joy
Oil of joy
Dance me into gladness now (oil of joy
