Knot Again is the third addition to my Macramé Collection, a series of warmer-weather knitwear designs that take inspiration from the open textures and shapes found in macramé. Knot Again features vertical panels of texture between drapey sections of stockinette to create a lightweight Spring/Summer garment.

SAMPLE

The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size L, giving the wearer 9” / 22.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. To allow for the wearer’s height, an extra 12 sts have been added to the side cast on (i.e.: 6 sts per needle when using Judy’s Magic Cast On), increasing body length by 1” / 2.5 cm. The neckhole depth has been increased by ~1.25” / 3 cm by working 1 more stitch between each short row shaping turn at the front of the neckhole. The waistband was formed by picking up 6 sts in every 7 rows.

CONSTRUCTION

Knot Again is worked sideways. The left-hand armhole is cast on first, followed by the stitches for the left-hand side of the body. Short row shaping is worked into the side of the body to either extend the shoulder length or the chest circumference (depending on your chosen size). The left-hand shoulder is worked flat, with three increase rows to optimise fit and featuring textured sections called Elongated Herringbone Panels. Once the shoulder has been worked, stitches are separated into back and front and each are worked separately. Front and back are re-joined to form the right-hand shoulder, which is worked as a mirror-image of the left-hand shoulder. Stitches are picked up around the neckhole and armholes to add I-Cords and around the waist to add a twisted rib.

SIZING GUIDE

This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 4-10” / 10-25 cm at the chest circumference.

Waistband circumference assumes you are working 7 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm.
