Dance of the Tumblers - Tchaikovsky
‘Dance of the Tumblers’, arranged for Concert Band by Geoff Kingston, is full of energy, colour and playful rhythmic excitement. Rapid woodwinds and a powerful reoccurring theme combine to create a dazzling miniature that demonstrates Tchaikovsky’s gift for colour and irresistible melody.
This exciting work will make a great concert opening or encore.
‘Dance of the Tumblers’ comes from Tchaikovsky’s opera ‘The Snow Maiden’ composed in 1879–80. It appears in the final act as a lively dance for the tumblers and other performers celebrating the arrival of spring.
