This Acts of Kindness resource is a printable SEL pack that helps students learn what an act of kindness is, why kind actions matter, and how small caring choices can make a difference in a classroom, school, family or community. It is made for teachers, art teachers and homeschoolers teaching kindness at the elementary level.

Students read about kindness, brainstorm ideas, discuss kind actions, plan the ones they want to do, and then write encouraging notes to classmates on printable Acts of Kindness cards. The ideas stay simple and concrete: give someone a compliment, offer to help with their work or a project, hang out with someone new, or write someone a nice note, text or letter in your free time.

HOW TO USE IT

Start with the reading page, which explains that an act of kindness is a selfless act done with concern for others and that kindness can spread through a classroom, school or community. On the brainstorm page, students think of six ways to show kindness in the classroom, at school, to family and friends or in the community, share them with a partner, then fill in the kind actions they want to do.

For the cards, students write their names on slips, put them in a bag and draw a classmate to write a kind note to. Card prompts include "You are awesome because...", "I appreciate that...", "I like it when..." and "You make me feel...". Photocopy and cut the cards and keep them in an accessible spot so students can use them for random acts of kindness all year.

Use it for elementary SEL, character education, classroom community building, kindness week, bucket filling activities, morning meeting, anti-bullying support, friendship lessons, homeschool kindness lessons and sub plans, as a mini-unit or as stand-alone activities.
