Travel Planner & Trip Budget Tracker – Vacation Budget, Itinerary, Packing List & Multi-Currency Expense Excel Template

Plan the whole trip in one spreadsheet: what it will cost, what is booked, what is still to pay, what you spend on the road (in any currency), what to pack and what to do before you leave. Built for vacations, holiday travel and your 2027 trips.

What's inside (8 tabs):

- Dashboard: countdown to departure, trip length, budget vs booked + spent, remaining budget, cost per person and per day, a budget-vs-actual chart and a "where the money goes" chart by category, the next payments due (overdue ones in red), packing and checklist progress, and a Settle up table that shows who owes whom.

- Settings: trip name, dates, number of travelers and their names, total budget, your home currency, up to 8 foreign currencies with exchange rates you type in yourself, and budget categories with a suggested % split you can change.

- Bookings: flights, lodging, trains, tours, insurance (60 rows). Enter the cost in any currency and it converts to your home currency. Track deposits, the balance and its due date, and confirmation numbers. Status shows Paid, Due in X days or OVERDUE.

- Itinerary: up to 40 days, dated automatically from your start date. Morning / afternoon / evening plans, where you stay, booking refs, and what you spent that day.

- Expense Log: 350 rows. Date, category, currency, amount (auto-converted), who paid, and split equally or per person.

- Packing List: about 60 common items pre-filled by category, ✓ as you pack, progress per category, plus empty rows for your own items.

- Pre-Trip Checklist: passport, visas / entry authorization, insurance, bank, home and tech tasks. Due date = start date minus "days before"; overdue tasks turn red.

Exchange rates are not live: you type in the rate you get from your bank or a rate site, so double-check them before relying on the totals. The checklist is a general reminder list, not travel, visa or legal advice; always check official sources for passport and entry requirements.

Built for Excel 2016+ (Windows and Mac), Excel mobile, WPS and LibreOffice. No macros. Every formula was recalculated and checked in LibreOffice, with the sample data and with all inputs cleared. Google Sheets: the file only uses standard functions that Google Sheets also supports, so it should work there, but it has not been tested in Google Sheets itself; charts and colors may look slightly different.
