Pay What Works: In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy I and others provide in the making of this pattern. The price shown on Ravelry is the “true” value of the pattern that best reflects the work put into creating this design.

To purchase the pattern at a price point that is more accessible to you, use the coupon code at checkout listed next to the price point. The prices indicate the price you will pay, not the discount amount. No coupon code is needed for the highest price point.

“Teenaa te mana o Rehua”.

Behold the greatness of Rehua. Maori proverb, quoted by chiefs when making gifts.

Rehua is the god of kindness, a star god linked to the star Antares. He is one of the oldest and ancient Maori deities, who dispersed gloom and sorrow from the minds of men.

As a Giver Fibre Muse, Rehua would be one of your Muses. As a soul who knits as a form of selflessness, you know all too well the magical and healing power of giving someone a thoughtful gift. Who do you see this winter season who needs you to disperse gloom and sorrow from their minds? Atawhai (Te Reo Maori for kindness) is a quick colorwork project with a cozy double folded brim that makes for a lovely little gift for a loved one. The sample was knit up in a classic grey + white combo, but the color combo can easily be personalized towards the recipient of the gift (do they have a favorite football team? Or alma mater school colors?). These customizations add in extra thoughtfulness that really makes the recipient feel loved.
