Her cat, Jaz, lounged nearby, his piercing yellow eyes watching lazily as the pages turned. Suddenly, a sharp knock rattled the cottage door. Zelda rose, her robes swishing softly, and opened the door to find a figure she'd hoped never to see again—the Grumpy Wood Cutter. With his patched brown tunic, scruffy beard, and an axe slung over his shoulder, he looked every bit as gruff as his reputation. His gray eyes gleamed with mischief.
