Continuing Education Course: Kid-Friendly Telehealth Interventions (3 CEs)
When mental health went online in 2020, many providers struggled to transition kid-friendly therapeutic activities to their telehealth sessions. Fortunately, there are easy ways to take traditional therapy games and activities and implement them via telehealth. Research shows that children can benefit from telehealth from a young age, and access to this method of service can improve mental health outcomes and reduce the need for emergency services, especially in rural areas.
This course provides research backing for telehealth as a method of service delivery for children. It reviews ethical and logistical considerations, including consent and evidence-based care with this population. Finally, it teaches the benefits of structured and non-directive play and arms you with the knowledge you need to develop your own kid-friendly telehealth activities.
Upon completing this course, you will have the tools to implement several therapeutic games and activities in telehealth sessions with child clients. Additionally, you will have an understanding of how to harness the therapeutic power of play activities implemented in the telehealth setting. Finally, you will have the necessary skills to build your own telehealth games and activities.
