In 2019, Ines Hamouda left a career in anaesthesia and intensive care to become a full-time visual artist. That’s not a small decision. That’s someone who chose honesty over certainty.

She works in monochrome. Portraits that don’t simply depict a face — they deconstruct it. Layer by layer, tone by tone, she explores what identity is made of. Memory. Fragmentation. What we carry inside ourselves that the surface doesn’t always show.

Today her work is held in private collections across Tunisia, Qatar, Switzerland, Germany, and France. Two paintings were acquired by the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs and now live permanently in the Tunisian National Museum. In 2026, she was the only Tunisian artist selected for the International Painting Meetings of Ouagadougou.
