Written for the Re:Classified Project in 2022, which aimed to pair emerging composers with some of Adelaide's best performers to write a work for a chamber ensemble to perform in one of three heritage locations in Adelaide. I was assigned the performance at Z-Ward, a former psychiatric prison. I used experimental flute and clarinet techniques which were workshopped with the performers, to create music that reached into the buildings past and connected with the memories of the former residents.
