An Ontology of Website: Macrobiotic Vegan Ontology (MVO.owl)

Ontology modelling has gained prominent importance in selected circles. It is, after all, even a military strategically important field, whilst a war has emerged on the European continent that has promoted the arms race and alliance forming globally. In this troubled international climate, this contribution provides an overview on the Macrobiotic Vegan Ontology that applies the science and practice of ontology modelling with a civilian objective focus on the design and formalisation of ontologies via a logically sound formalisation of an intellectually distinct knowledge space that founds the principles of the macrobiotic vegan diet and lifestyle. First, an overview on the evolution of ontologies is provided, which is followed by a selection of discussions on ontology design-wise pertinent issues, after which some references are made to commonly used languages and tools employed in applied ontology as a scientific field of inquiry. After this, the ontology modelling involved with what is known as the Macrobiotic Vegan Ontology (MVO.owl) is presented by featuring its foundations and structures, including its formal axiomatisation.
