Margin Call Calculator
Know your margin call price before the broker.
If you invest with margin, one of the most important numbers you need to know is the price at which your broker could issue a margin call. Calculating it by hand can be confusing, especially when maintenance margin requirements are involved.
This calculator does the work for you.
Simply enter:
- Your average purchase price
- Cash invested
- Margin borrowed
- Maintenance margin requirement
The calculator instantly estimates the stock price that would trigger a margin call, allowing you to:
✅ Understand your risk before opening a position
✅ See how much room you have during market declines
✅ Compare different leverage amounts before investing
✅ Build a safer, rules-based investing strategy
Whether you're using leverage for long-term ETF investing, Bitcoin ETFs, or individual stocks, this tool helps you make more informed decisions.
Designed for investors who want to use margin responsibly.
What You'll Receive
- ✔ Margin Call Price Calculator
- ✔ Easy-to-use interface
- ✔ Works for any portfolio
- ✔ No complicated formulas required
NOTE: The calculator works best to understand how much your portfolio can fall for the amount of leverage taken on.
Example: If I have a 100K portfolio of VOO, and I want to start buying QQQ with some margin. If I buy $1000 of QQQ with cash and $1000 with margin it will say my margin call price is -33% on the portfolio. That is inaccurate because the calculator is not considering the 100K in your account. It's assuming all you have is $1000 in QQQ from a cash investment, and $1000 on margin. A more accurate representation would be to put $101,000 in the "cash investment" box and $1000 in the "margin investment" box.
