Calibration Program Kit
Calibration findings are some of the easiest audit findings to get: one overdue gauge on the floor, a personal micrometer that isn't in the register, a lab certificate nobody reviewed, or an out-of-tolerance gauge with no record of what it measured. This kit closes those gaps.
Built by Matt Norman: 15 years as a U.S. Navy Aviation Structural Mechanic, then quality inspection and QA/QC supervision in commercial space and defense manufacturing. Plain shop-floor language, no fluff.
What's inside (Word, Excel, and PDF):
- 01 Calibration Procedure Template (Word + PDF): register, equipment selection, status labels, intervals, in-house and external calibration, certificate review, recall, safeguarding, environment, out-of-tolerance, personally owned and customer-supplied equipment, and test software / CMM programs. Replace the [brackets] and release it.
- 02 Gauge Master List and Recall Tracker (Excel): register with columns for the fields AS9100D 7.1.5.2 asks for, automatic next-due dates and recall flags (OVERDUE, DUE SOON, NO DUE DATE, OUT OF SERVICE), an auto-sorted Recall List, Calibration History Log, OOT Log, Dashboard, and a Gauge R&R calculator (average and range method).
- 03 Out-of-Tolerance Impact Assessment (Word + PDF): as-found data, where the gauge was used, a step-by-step way to decide product impact, actions, and customer notification.
- 04 Gauge R&R Basics Guide (PDF): plain-language MSA terms, how to run a 10 x 3 x 3 study, the math, a worked example, and how to read %GRR and ndc.
- 05 Supplier Calibration Certificate Review Checklist (Word + PDF): what a good certificate contains, with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 references, plus your own acceptance steps.
- 06 AS9100D 7.1.5 Requirements Mapping (Word + PDF): each requirement paraphrased, what auditors look for, where the kit helps, and a column for your evidence.
- 00 Start Here guide.
Who it's for: quality managers, inspectors, and calibration coordinators at machine shops and other aerospace and defense suppliers that manage their own gauges and use outside labs.
What it is not: a calibration method library or a copy of AS9100D, ISO/IEC 17025, or the AIAG MSA manual. It organizes and documents your program.
License: one company, all sites and users. Instant download. Works in Word/Excel 2016+, Microsoft 365, and LibreOffice; no macros.
