Vesak Day 卫塞节

Vesak Day, May 31, 2026, is the holiest festival for Buddhists worldwide, commemorating the three great holy events of the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama: his birth, enlightenment, and Nirvana.

The three most important moments in Siddhartha Gautama's life all occurred on the full moon day of May:

Birth: The Buddha was born on the full moon day of May in 623 BCE, as a prince of Kapilavastu in ancient India. It is said that he was born directly under his mother's armpit while she feel uncomfortable resting at Lumbini Park during pregnancy back to parents home . After taking seven steps forward, lotus flowers appeared with each step, One hand points to the sky, the other to the ground and celestial beings descended from the sky to bathe him with flowers and perfume.

Enlightenment: At the age of 29, while hunting outside the palace, the Buddha inadvertently observed the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, thus giving rise to the desire to renounce worldly life. After six years of arduous practice, receiving guidance from many high monks, he still could not find a complete answer. Finally, under a Bodhi tree by a river, he received guidance from a harpsichord-playing sage on the doctrine of the mean. At the age of 35, on a full moon night in May, he attained supreme enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, becoming the Buddha.

Nirvana: At the age of 80, on a full moon day in May, the Buddha concluded his 49-year life of teaching and entering Nirvana. His final important words were: "All beings in this world should take the precepts as their teacher!"

卫塞节（Vesak Day) 5月31日2026它是全世界佛教徒最神圣的节日，目的在同一天纪念佛教创始人释迦牟尼佛的诞生、成道（悟道）与涅槃（逝世）三大圣迹。 

释迦牟尼佛一生中三个最重要的人生关键时刻，都发生在5月的月圆之日（满月）：

诞生：佛陀出生于公元前623年的5月月圆日，为古印度迦毗罗卫国王子。据说他在古印度藍毗尼公园在母亲怀孕后回娘家时身体不适在公园休息时他从母亲腋下直接诞生落地后向前行走七步,步步出现莲花,一手纸指天一手指地!即时天龙八部以鲜花香水由天而降为他沐浴.

成道：佛陀在29岁因在一次出宫外打猎無意中观察到人生必须经过生老病死之苦因此萌起出家因缘，经过6年苦修行，得到多位高僧指点始终无法得到圆满的答案最终在河边一颗菩提树下获得拉琴仙人指点中庸之道的启发终在35岁5月的某个月圆之夜，在菩提树下证得无上菩提觉悟成佛。
