Halfsies Socks

The Halfsies Socks are cozy, quick, and easy socks that are all about color play! These socks are worked flat using very simple intarsia and then sewn together. Don't worry if you've never worked intarsia or sewn socks before - I have video tutorials to walk you through it!

(Please note that the cuffs and toes of these socks are knit in the round, but the rest of the sock is knit flat. I am working on an update that includes how to knit the entire sock flat. Until that is available, if you've purchased the pattern, instructions for working the socks entirely flat are available upon request.)

These socks are totally customizable, with unlimited possibilities for how you can knit up your socks. Have fun playing with color and making the perfect socks for you!

YARN:

The sample socks were worked using 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held together, however, these socks can also be worked using DK or worsted weight yarn as long as the correct gauge can be achieved.

The Halfsies Socks were designed in collaboration with Indie Yarn Club, using Happy Feet Merino Sock Yarn (100% Superwash Merino, 400 yds/365 m per 100g skein).

Colorways used: Tunicate, Acerbic, Golden, Superfuture, Neon Coral, Pale Peach, Grace, Baby Mint, International, Inkpot.

YARDAGE:

Because these socks are so customizable, exact yardage will depend on the yarn you use, your gauge, foot length, leg length, and any modifications or customizations that you make. Each pair of kids socks will require 90-250 yds/82-229 m of fingering weight yarn. Each pair of adult socks will require 350-700 yds/320-640 m of fingering weight yarn. If you'd like to use DK or worsted weight yarn, divide those numbers in half. Each section of each sock uses very little yardage, so these socks are perfect for using up leftover yarns!

NEEDLES: US 4/3.50 mm or size needed to obtain gauge

TOOLS: Tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers, scissors, measuring tape/ruler

GAUGE: 24 sts & 36 rows = 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch after blocking

SIZES: Sizes 1 (2, 3) 4 (5, 6, 7) correspond to an actual foot circumference of 4-5 (5-6, 6-7) 7 (8, 9, 10) in/10-12.5 (12.5-15, 15-18) 18 (20.5, 23, 25.5) cm measured around the ball of the foot. Sizes traditionally correspond to Baby (Toddler, Kid) Adult S (Adult M, Adult L, Adult XL), but choose your size based on foot circumference for the best fit.
