You Can Do Hard Things, Together

A 30-session play-based team-building curriculum for homeschool co-ops

Thirty complete sessions of hands-on challenges that build cooperation, courage, and real connection in kids of every age. No screens, no worksheets, no kits. Just paper cups, tape, string, and a room full of children learning to work something out together.

Each session takes about 45 to 60 minutes and follows the same five-part rhythm: a three minute huddle with a verse, a quick warm-up, the challenge itself, a debrief, and a one line blessing. After two weeks your group knows the pattern and you barely have to explain it.

Every challenge is written three ways, for early learners, middle learners, and older learners, so a six year old and a fifteen year old can play the same game at the same table and both have a real job. Mixed ages are the point, not a problem to solve.

The six units run in a deliberate order. Kids learn to cooperate before they are asked to trust, and to trust before they are asked to lead:

  1. We Need Each Other
  2. Build It Together
  3. Talk It Out
  4. Trust and Rely
  5. Lead and Follow
  6. Put It All Together

What's inside

  • 30 complete sessions with materials, setup, and goals
  • Three learner levels written into every challenge
  • A short teaching, one verse, and a blessing for each session
  • Three debrief questions per session, already written for you
  • The master materials bin list you fill once and reuse all year
  • Instructor notes on stepping back, risk versus hazard, and mixed-age teams

Inspired by the ideas in Jonathan Haidt's The Anxious Generation, this curriculum puts antifragility and free play into practice. Your job is to set up in three minutes, then get out of the way. The towers fall, the eggs splat, somebody argues about who is in charge, and that friction is the lesson.

Run two sessions a month for about fifteen months, or one a week for a full school year. Repeat favorites freely.
