Come to Me
Come to Me (2025)
for solo harp
Duration: approx. 3 1/2 mins
Come to me in the silence of the night;
Come in the speaking silence of a dream
This is the opening couplet of Christina Rossetti’s dreamlike poem ‘Echo’, which I set for female vocal trio in 2005. This arrangement for solo harp was made at the request of my good friend Emily Granger. The wistful modal melodies and chant-like accompaniment seem purpose made for the resonant beauty of the harp. The music draws its expressive inspiration from Rossetti’s words, taking the listener on a journey of remembrance, acceptance, and letting go.
