Respect and Kindness
Etiquette gets a bad reputation. People often think of it as snobby, rigid rules
meant to make children feel small or inadequate. I want you to completely
rewrite that definition in your home. True grace and good manners are simply
love in action. Manners are the tools we use to make other people feel valued,
comfortable, and safe in our presence. When we teach a child to chew with
their mouth closed, look someone in the eye, or write a thank-you note, we are
not trying to raise little robots — we are helping them learn to navigate the
world with kindness and respect. Here is how we scale the beautiful art of
grace and manners from ages two through eighteen.
