COMICS INK & HALFTONE PACK

120 print screens, ink defects and press textures. Every file measured before release.

Works in Procreate, Photoshop, Affinity Photo and Clip Studio Paint. Not one app. Four.

WHAT YOU GET

 48 halftone DOT screens  4 densities x 4 angles x 3 ink levels

48 halftone LINE screens  the same grid, for hatching, speed lines and duotone plates

16 ink defect stamps    spatter, blotting, the mess real ink makes

8 press textures     paper grain and age

 All 120 files are 2048 x 2048 grayscale PNG.

THE FILENAMES TELL YOU EVERYTHING

 dots-medium-45deg-50pct

    |   |   |

    |   |   +-- ink coverage: 25, 50 or 75 percent

    |   +-------- screen angle: 0, 15, 45 or 75 degrees

+--------------- density: coarse, medium, fine or ultrafine

You never have to guess which file you're loading, and you never have to open twelve of them

to find the one you wanted.

WHY THE ANGLES MATTER

15, 45 and 75 degrees are the traditional printing screen angles. They exist because when ink

plates overlap at those angles they do NOT produce moire - that ugly interference ripple. If

you stack two screens, give them different angles and the problem disappears.

Which means the angle label has to be correct, and ours are. More on that below, because it is

the part most packs would quietly skip.

DENSITY, MEASURED

coarse   dot pitch 248px  bold visible dots - posters, big panels

 medium   132px       the general-purpose choice

fine     73px       editorial work, smaller reproduction

ultrafine  46px       nearly continuous tone - shading and gradients

Those numbers are measured off the shipped files by Fourier analysis, not estimated.

MEASURED BEFORE RELEASE - AND WHAT THAT ACTUALLY MEANS

Every file had to pass all of this before it was allowed into the download:

 * exact 2048x2048, true grayscale

 * full tonal range used - a nearly-flat stamp imports fine and then does nothing

 * every LINE screen's real angle recovered by projection variance and checked against the

  angle in its filename

 * dot pitch confirmed to shrink as the named density rises

 * ink coverage confirmed to actually increase from 25 to 50 to 75 percent

 * screens at different angles confirmed to be genuinely different images

120 of 120 passed.

Here is the defect that testing caught, because you should know it happened. The first build

had every angle labelled with its COMPLEMENT - the file named 15deg actually contained a 75deg

screen. A rotation convention: turning the sampling grid rotates the pattern the other way.

That is not cosmetic. Those angles exist specifically to avoid moire, so a file labelled 15deg

that is really 75deg ruins the exact job you picked it for. It was corrected and all 120 files

were re-measured.

Worth adding: the first version of the angle TEST was also wrong. It used the strongest peak of

a Fourier transform, which cannot tell a 45 degree square dot lattice from a 0 degree one. It

reported 26 failures that were not real. The test was replaced with one that can actually

resolve what it measures, rather than loosening it until the complaints stopped.

WHY PNG AND NOT .brushset

A Procreate .brushset is an undocumented binary archive, and whether a brush FEELS right can

only be judged by drawing with an Apple Pencil in Procreate. We could not verify such a file

before selling it to you, and we don't ship what we can't check.

PNG stamps import as brush shapes and grain sources in Procreate, Photoshop, Affinity Photo and

Clip Studio Paint. So you get four apps instead of one, and nothing that might fail on your

device.

INCLUDED: A REAL INSTALL GUIDE

Four pages, one section per app, with the specific steps - including the two things that trip

people up: Photoshop treats BLACK as ink so a screen needs inverting before Define Brush Preset,

and a stamp smears into a stripe unless you raise brush Spacing to about 100 percent.

Troubleshooting section for soft screens, moire, and inverted ink.

LICENCE

Unlimited personal and commercial use. Comics, zines, posters, album art, packaging, advertising,

editorial illustration, print and screen. Sell the artwork you make. No attribution, no

per-project fee, no expiry, no client limit.

You may not resell or redistribute the PNG files themselves, or convert them to another format

and sell that. The artwork is yours. The files are not.

DELIVERY

Instant download after checkout. One .zip, 16.7 MB. Nothing is shipped.

If a file will not import in a supported app, contact me and I will fix it or refund you. PNG is

universal, so any failure is a genuine defect and I want to know about it.

You will get a ZIP (17MB) file
