If I Was a Blackbird is an old folk tune (Roud 387) first transcribed by Gardiner in 1906 and Cecil Sharpe in 1907, the former from Henry Lee in Whitchurch, Hampshire.

Here it is arranged for SATB Saxophone Quartet and is inspired by the feel and spirit of the track of the same name on the Belshazzar's Feast album 'The Whiting's on the Wall' (which featured the folk duo Paul Sartin and Paul Hutchinson). This version is arranged by Paul Hutchinson and Chris Lawry.

It would suit an intermediate+ ensemble and would make a wonderful concert item.

The publication is supplied as a PDF which contains the full score and instrumental parts.
