Whatever the Result: Buckinghamshire 11+ School Choice Workbook

Whatever the Result

A practical Buckinghamshire 11+ school-choice workbook for parents and carers

The 11+ process can become so focused on preparation, scores and results that one important question is easily overlooked:-

Which school is genuinely the right fit for your child?

Whatever the Result is a calm, practical and printable workbook designed to help Buckinghamshire families look beyond reputation, league tables and what everyone else appears to be doing.

This is not an 11+ tutoring guide and it does not promise a particular result. Instead, it helps you understand your individual child, explore the available schools thoughtfully and prepare for both possible outcomes before decisions need to be made.

Inside, you’ll be guided to:

• identify your child’s strengths, needs and preferences
• agree your family’s most important school priorities
• look beyond labels and consider the environment in which your child will thrive
• prepare useful questions before attending open days
• record school visits before the details begin to merge together
• compare schools using observations and evidence
• investigate catchment areas, admissions criteria and previous allocations
• understand how school preferences are considered
• explore support for children with additional needs
• create a reassuring Plan A and Plan B
• understand the difference between a Selection Review and an appeal
• agree calm, practical next steps after the result

The workbook includes guided conversations, practical prompts, comparison tables and pages you can print and complete together.

Created by a Buckinghamshire parent who has experienced very different routes through the process with her own children, this guide is founded on one reassuring principle: a test result is important, but it does not define your child or determine their future.

What you will receive:
