Breakwaters is a hat made in the rounds from bottom up in slouchy or beanie length. Attractive texture of tiny waves is divided with columns of knit stitches, reminding a wooden breakwaters tearing the sea waves.

SIZES
Small { Large }
Small: finished brim circumference, unstretched: 40 cm / 16” to fit 50-55 cm / 20-22” head circumference.
Large: finished brim circumference, unstretched: 44 cm / 17.5” to fit 55-60 cm / 22-24” head circumference.
Length (from CO to top): 22.5 cm / 9”, length is easy adjustable.

YARN
For a hat you’ll need about 150 { 160 } m of any worsted weight yarn.
Sample was made with Malabrigo Yarn Rios (100% Wool-Merino; 192m / 210y per 100g).
Shown in “52 Paris Night” colorway.

NEEDLES
4.0 mm (US #6) circular needles or dpns, or size needed to get the right gauge;
3.25 mm (US #3) circular needles or dpns, or three sizes smaller than the gauge needles.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
1 stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving ends.

GAUGE
21 sts and 44 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ – in texture pattern with 4.0 mm
(US #6) needles, after wet blocking.
25 sts and 36 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ – in 1x1 rib pattern with 3.25 mm (US #3) needles, after wet blocking.
Adjust needle size if necessary to get given gauge.
