Defensor Harmoniae Biblicae - FULL ALBUM
The second full-length album from DHB is louder, darker, sharper, and even more unapologetically Confessional.
Defensor Harmoniae Biblicae—“Defender of Biblical Harmony”—brings twelve tracks of theology-heavy hip hop rooted in Holy Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, and the theology of the cross. This is Christian rap without the vague inspiration, prosperity slogans, or doctrinal fog. Every song has something definite to confess.
The album opens with the teeth-bared declaration of “Fangs,” followed by the return of one of American Lutheranism’s forgotten defenders on “Henkel, Pt. II.” “Hold Fast” calls the Church to remain anchored in the faith once delivered, while “Problem$ with Pro$perity” tears into the false gospel of wealth, success, and spiritual self-improvement.
From the baptismal confidence of “Already In” to the uncompromising confession of justification in “By Faith,” the album refuses to place man’s work where Christ’s finished work belongs. “Signal (Interlude)” arrives like a whispered transmission from the Fathers through the static of a forgotten AM station, reminding the listener that the dead still speak—and, through the living Word, the dead hear and live.
The title track declares the purpose of DHB itself: defending the harmony of biblical doctrine against fragmentation, compromise, and fashionable error. “Anti-Flex” rejects the glory-driven posturing of modern Christian culture. “Shudder” confronts the demons who know exactly who Christ is, while “Vocations (A Thesis on the Two-Fold Nature of Music)” explores music as both a created gift and a vessel for proclamation. The album closes with “Dear Old Church,” a final love letter to the Church that survives not through relevance, reinvention, or spectacle, but through Christ and His enduring Word.
Defensor Harmoniae Biblicae is for listeners who want Christian hip hop with doctrine, history, danger, humor, and an actual confession.
