These Spring Directed Drawing Lessons are 10 step-by-step drawing activities that help students draw springtime subjects with confidence: duck in the rain, tulips, bird's nest, bird, sheep, birdhouse, ladybug, butterfly, seedling and flower.

They are made for grades 1 to 4 and easy to adapt for Kindergarten or Grade 5. Each page guides students through a structured drawing with simple visual steps, building drawing skills, fine motor control, focus and creative confidence in the classroom or at home.

WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING

★★★★ “I love having this resource. I let my students pick the one they want to do. It never fails that there is some grumbling “i can’t draw”, but when they are finished they love what they accomplish and ask if they can take it home, as opposed to me hanging it up in the hallway. We have used these for inside recess, rewards, gifts, I have even left them in sub plans.” sarah T.

WHAT'S INCLUDED (NON-EDITABLE)

  • 10 Spring Directed Drawing Lessons with step-by-step visuals
  • Draw-on pages for student sketching or workbook assembly
  • Title/cover page and extra drawing pages for making a seasonal directed drawing booklet

HOW TO USE IT

Print single pages or compile all the drawings into a Spring Directed Drawing Workbook. Students can work on the draw-on pages, in their sketchbooks or on blank paper for larger compositions. Use them for spring art lessons, art centers, early finishers, sub plans, mindful drawing and SEL, homeschool art, portfolios or hallway displays.

Encourage students to outline in black marker or fine liner before coloring with crayons, colored pencils, markers or watercolor paint. Each lesson fits a 30 to 45 minute art block and can stretch over several days with color, backgrounds and extra details.

WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

Students follow step-by-step instructions to make recognizable drawings, strengthen line, shape and proportion awareness, build fine motor skills, and explore the Elements of Art: line, shape, space and pattern, while developing focus, patience and independence.
