We can rethink how we talk to children about

food. Children hear words like “fat” or “overweight” and can learn

shame. They hear “healthy” and sometimes mistakenly think it means

“skinny.” Let's try to break that cycle.

Healthy isn't primarily about what your body looks like on the

outside; it's about what your body is doing on the inside. Food is fuel.

We want to teach kids the difference between “Building Fuel” (like

carrots, which help build bones and keep hearts pumping) and “Fun

Fuel” (like candy, which tastes great but doesn't offer many building

blocks). It's about making choices that help us grow strong.
