Sizing
Hat: Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large) designed to fit with 1-4cm/0.5-1.5” negative ease.
Finished measurements:
Circumference: 35 (40, 45, 50, 55, 60)cm / 14 (15.5, 17.5, 19.5, 21.5, 23.5)”;
Height: 18.5 (20.5, 23, 25.5, 28, 30)cm / 7.5 (8, 9, 10, 11, 12)”.

Cowl: Small (Large) 90 (115) cm /35.5 (45.5)” circumference, 17 (17) cm / 6.5 (6.5)” high.
The Large size is designed to be worn wrapped double around the neck.

Yarn
Any aran weight yarn. Hat: 50 (60, 80, 100, 12, 140) m / 50 (60, 70, 90, 110, 130) yards; Cowl: 170 (220) m / 190 (240) yards.

Rainbow sample: Noro Kureyon in Shade 319; Hat: 1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2) balls; Cowl: 2 (3) balls.

Pink/grey sample: CamaRose Snefnug in Shades 7310 Askegr (MC) and 7861 Hindbaer (CC); Hat: 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 2) balls MC, 1 ball CC; Cowl: 1 (2) balls MC, 1 ball CC.

Gauge
16 sts x 24 rows = 10cm/4” measured over Star Pattern in the rnd with larger needles.
This gauge is after blocking, with the fabric slightly stretched to fully show textured sts.

Construction
The hat is worked in the rnd, beginning with a twisted stitch brim. Knitting continues with the star stitch pattern, ending with simple decreases to close the top. The cowl is worked in the rnd, beginning and ending with a Twisted Rib edging. The Star Stitch pattern is worked in the main body of the cowl.
