Clementine Novel Study (Grades 2-4 Unit 1)

This three-tiered novel study for Clementine by Sara Pennypacker can be taught in isolation, or it can be combined with other novel studies from my grades 2-4 units to build a year-long ELA curriculum. This unit is comprised of reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar instruction.

Here's what you can expect from this resource:

• Teaching guides and answer keys (with a video file walking you through the materials in this novel study)
• Three tiers of teaching
• Tier 1 = Student reading journal comprised of vocabulary, grammar, literary element, and writing instruction. Additionally, this tier ends the novel with a final written project (a creative version included!)
• Tier 2 = Supplemental activities that reinforce concepts and skills from the student journal (use as many of these supplements as you need)
• Tier 3 = Extensions and rabbit trails based on four theme topics from Clementine (12 picture books and accompanying activities related to these themes)
