DESCRIPTION

Get cozy with a warm sweater with some nifty details, perfect for layering over a collared button-up shirt… or just lounging on the sofa.

Soothsayer is a casual chic top-down sweater with raglan sleeves and a scooped neckline. The sweater features a high-low hem shaped with short rows and set-in pockets hidden inside the reverse stockinette body.

To minimize purling, the majority of the sweater is worked in stockinette in the round, then turned inside out after it’s finished. Waist shaping gives this comfy, cozy sweater a subtle hourglass curve while gentle A-line increases ensure it also fits comfortably around the hips. The neckline, pocket details, and cuffs are worked in twisted rib.

The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology, giving only written instructions. The pattern includes a step-by-step photo tutorial for making welt pockets.

MATERIALS

Yarn

  • Kässäkerho Pom Pom Suoma Single DK (100% Finnsheep wool, 250 m/100 g, 273 yd/3.53 oz), approx. 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) [6, 7, 7, 7] skeins. The sample sweater is knitted in size S in the colorway Okra.
  • Or DK to worsted-weight yarn, approx. 850 (950, 1100, 1150, 1300) [1400, 1550, 1650, 1750] m / 950 (1050, 1200, 1300, 1400) [1550, 1700, 1800, 1900] yd
Suoma Single DK knits up at a looser gauge than the DK in the name would suggest. Pick a yarn that gives you the suggested gauge and fabric you like rather than trying to match yarn weight and yardage.
