Retro Times Newspaper

The Retro Times is a newspaper-style reading resource created for adult ESOL learners at CEFR B2 and above. Each issue uses short, engaging “on this day” reports that feature familiar news stories to give learners regular practice with real-world reading skills. It can used as a flexible classroom or self-study resource. The issues can be scaffolded with simple, supportive tasks such as predicting headlines, finding key facts, scanning for details, and discussing viewpoints to build vocabulary, reading accuracy and confidence. Topics connect with British history, culture and everyday life, making it easy to spark conversation and extend learning into speaking and writing.
