Custom detailed and intuitive Lego instructions allowing you to build the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man seen in the Lego Dimensions Level Pack. 


Working from limited reference images/videos, this recreation of Alex Jones' (@orionpaxone) design has taken over 5 years to complete with several mistakes and a few minor edits along the way. In trying to retain the soft, marshmallow look, the posability of the models has been severely restricted. The arms are fixed into place although the wrist, hand and fingers have some flexibility. Likewise the legs, built as a solid sub-model, have limited rotation at the ankle and hip. The head is fixed in place but the eyes can slide from side to side and the facial expression can be 'hot swapped' between happy and angry. Similar to the Lego Transformers builds, this process is included at the end of these instructions. The build should be accessible to most level of builders although some sections can be a little fiddly and should be taken slowly. The 'bib', in particular, needs extra care to ensure that the nets used don't get caught under any studs. The techniques employed range from familiar to unique in order to, as closely as possible, resemble the original design while keeping the weight down. Ultimately though, the model is both big and heavy, standing at nearly 74cm tall with the weight of the inventory reported as just under 10kg!


I've rebuilt the model several times over the years and adapted the construction order to make the building experience go more smoothly. With that amount of weight it's easier and logical to add the legs towards the end of the construction. Posed properly, the model stands stable although I've only been able to test it standing upright for a month before eventually needing the floor space back! Care should be taken to avoid placing any additional weight or pressure on the model during and after the build and also in ensuring that the completed model is both stable and safe. 


With a model this size, the instructions needed to be detailed and intuitive so the build is separated into six 'booklets'. Covering 2156+ steps, each of the 1412 watermarked pages have been edited to match the quality you would get in any official Lego UCS instruction set, with a logical build order and clear call outs and submodel builds. Instead of using a random colour to represent hidden pieces, I've used a variety of colours to ensure the instructions are easy to follow. Essentially, any part can be exchanged for a piece of a similar colour proved that it isn't white, red, dark blue or part of the face. The nets used in the 'bib' construction work better as black and since they don't appear in the Stud.io inventory, substitutes illustrations were created and used in the instructions instead.


Given the size of the model, construction takes time so the instructions have only been 'playtested' a couple of times, although without any problems. Each page has been checked and double checked but mistakes can happen so please message me if you find an error or if anything seems unclear.


This download includes the instruction PDFs, an XML parts list along with a zip file containing a few decal files which should help you recreate the lettering on the hat. I haven't tested it myself but the lettering should be 13mm tall, enough to cover the middle four plate widths in the middle of the hat band
