We’re excited to explore and create with you! Together we’ll learn more about ecology, foraging, & herbalism through an immersive workshop located just outside of Grove City, Ohio.

The exact location will be disclosed upon purchase in a digital download.

What’s the Game Plan?

We’ll gather outside StagPath Sanctuary on the morning of July 27th at 10 AM, giving everyone time to use the restroom or set down their potluck dish before we dive into group introductions and share our intentions for the workshop.

Before it gets too toasty out, we’ll walk the trails with Jen of StagPath while learning more about the history and future of the 10-acre retired horse ranch turned native food forest where we are gathered and explore Ohio’s ecology. Along the way, we’ll identify different wildflowers, share insights & experiences about medicinal uses, faunal associations, & personal stories.

After the walk, we’ll settle in for a family-style outdoor potluck, hang out, and share more with one another!

To wrap up brunch, Sheena of The Pollen Patch will lead us through crafting our very own tinctures using medicinal plants native to Ohio. Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), wild lettuce (Lactuca species), and goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) will be featured species—covering a range of herbal self-care needs from boosting immunity, providing extra support during colds, and easing the effects of allergies.

Many of Ohio’s medicinal plants are hiding in plain sight along roadsides, forest edges, or even in our gardens. These plant friends have been valued by Indigenous cultures for thousands of years—and today, native plants continue to play vital roles in our ecosystems. By learning more about the uses of these plants, more people might care for them. If more people care for them, more people might plant them. And if more people plant them, we’ll have stronger ecosystems that not only produce food & medicine but add more resilience to the here and now of our shared landscape, creating a ripple effect for a brighter future!

Let’s get nerdy, have fun, & make something incredible together!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or Sheena on Instagram, or contact me via email at stagpath@protonmail.com.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can my kids come?

Sure! If your kids are interested in learning more about pattern recognition, foraging, ecology, and herbalism—they are welcome to attend.

Do I need to bring food?

This event includes a potluck. We recommend including simple picnic-friendly foods. There will be coolers available to keep things fresh. If things get too cold and reheating food is necessary, it shouldn't be too big of an issue.

Where does this event take place?

This event will be in Jen's backyard just outside of Grove City. Jen lives on a retired horse ranch with 10-acres and walking trails. She works alongside her partner to increase native plant biodiversity and has been intentionally including lots of native wild edible plants to create a food forest.

Are there bathrooms?!

Yes! Before we go on our walk and have our picnic there will be opportunities to use the restroom. If anyone needs to use the restroom at some point during the walk, we'll do our best to accommodate.

What should I wear?

We don't know what the weather will be like on Sunday, but parts of our trails can get a little muddy after a rain. Keep this in mind and dress accordingly when the day comes.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains, Sheena and Jen might have their own personal picnic and reschedule the main event to accommodate everyone else. There are outdoor shelters we can use if we need to though!

How long is this event?

Including the walk, potluck, and tincture workshop, this event is predicted to take 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
