Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and one of the largest cities in the Northeast with a population of nearly 700,000 people, located within its 23 designated neighborhoods. It is the 24th most populous city in the country (2020 Census). Outside of “The City of Boston” is Greater Boston which includes several suburbs of Boston and has an estimated population of 4.8 million. Some of the most touristy sites in Boston see greater than 20 million visitors each year.

Boston was founded in 1630, one of the oldest municipalities in the United States and as a result, also has claim to the first public park (Boston Common, 1634), First Public School (Boston Latin School, 1635), First Subway System (Tremont Street Subway, 1897) and first Large Public Library (Boston Public Library, 1848.)
