Isis with Outstretched Wings - Ancient Egyptian Relief Print - Digital Download
This fine art photographic print captures a stunning relief of the goddess Isis, which I recently captured from inside a chamber at the Valley of the Queens, Egypt. Carved and painted over three millennia ago, but you can have it now on your wall. This image embodies the essence of protection, magic, and rebirth - a timeless symbol of divine feminine power.
Isis is shown with outstretched wings, a sacred gesture of shelter and blessing. Her wings represent the eternal cycle of life and death, renewal and resurrection - echoing her mythic role as the mother of Horus and the one who revived Osiris. The throne glyph upon her head identifies her as the celestial queen, the seat of divine authority.
The soft ochre tones and faded pigments reflect the New Kingdom style (c. 1550–1070 BCE), when artists of Thebes and Abydos adorned tombs and temples with protective deities to guide souls through the afterlife. This relief is a surviving fragment of that sacred artistry - a moment in stone where myth, beauty, and eternity meet.
