The America We Hold Dear
I haven't given up hope, and I don't want you to either.
I'll be honest with you.
I've been worried about America, too.
I've watched the news, gotten frustrated, wondered where we're headed, and sometimes wondered what one person could possibly do about any of it.
Maybe you've felt that way, too.
That's why I wrote this little book.
The America We Hold Dear isn't a political book, and I'm not going to tell you what you should believe or which side you should be on.
Instead, it's an invitation to step away from the noise for a little while and think about something that can get lost when we're constantly concerned about what is or isn't happening in Washington, D.C.:
What do you love about this country?
What do you want to protect?
What do you hope your children and grandchildren—or the people who come after us—will inherit?
And what is one small thing you can actually do?
This isn't a book about fixing America.
Goodness knows, I wouldn't know where to begin with that!
It's about remembering that America is more than its government, its politicians, and its headlines.
It's our families.
Our neighbors.
Our communities.
The places we love.
The people who show up when somebody needs a hand.
And it's us.
You don't have to agree with everyone. You don't have to have all the answers.
And you certainly don't have to save the country by yourself.
Maybe you just need to remember that you still have a place in its story.
That's what this little book is about.
Please read it. Pass it on. Do something good.
And there's one more thing:
$1 from every copy sold will be donated by me to the National Park Foundation to support America's national parks.
Because there are so many things about this country that are worth protecting.
The purchase price is not itself a charitable donation by you, the buyer. But I promise, the donation will get to where it's intended to be.
