LOVE WITHOUT POSSESSION: DECOLONIZING ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS
Possession is not love. And yet, most of us have been conditioned to believe that controlling someone, securing their exclusivity, or being the center of their world is how love proves itself. This belief, rooted in colonial systems, patriarchal values, and capitalist scarcity, has shaped how we approach romantic relationships across cultures, even when we long for something freer, more mutual, and more alive.
Love Without Possession is an invitation to decolonize how we love. It explores how systemic forces shape our desires, our expectations, and our fears, and offers a liberatory framework for building relationships rooted in alignment, sovereignty, and care. Drawing from the 5 Buckets of Connection, this book helps us move beyond fantasies of “forever” or “completion,” and toward relational practices that nourish our whole selves and sustain our communities. This isn’t a guide to help you navigate polyamory or non-monogamy; it’s a guide to loving well, without domination.
