The Chronic Diseases - a Reader's guide
150 print pages.
This is intended as a Reader's Guide to the English translations of Hahnemann's The Chronic Diseases (Die Chronischen Krankheiten), intended to be read with both the text of The Chronic Diseases and the Organon (6th edition) open (links are provided to digital copies of both Charles Hempel's and Louis Tafel's English translations of The Chronic Diseases and of the Organon).
Hahnemann’s observations on chronic disease remain one of the most misapprehended and misrepresented aspects of his teachings. With the conviction that few have ever successfully made it through Hahnemann's writings on the topic or reasonably understood these, I offer this commentary from my careful study of his works in Hempel’s and Tafel's translations as well as in the original German, with the addition of commentary from a contemporary perspective, to aid contemporary students and practitioners.
I've chosen to base this on Hempel's translation of the 1st German edition, as this was the version that most influenced the development of homeopathy in the English-speaking world, Louis Tafel's translation coming in 1896 after the dominant influence of RE Dudgeon & Richard Hughes on British, and Kent on North American homeopathy & beyond.
