The finish size will depend upon your own personal gauge. I personally would use a G or H hook for this project, but you can certainly go up in hook size it is your project.

Yarn I would use Aran which is a weight 4. My personal favorist is Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn but I use several other types as well -- including Red Heart , Caron, Crafter's Choise and many more.
