First flown in 1982 and entering limited service in the 1990s, it features a unique ejection seat, heavy armor, and advanced avionics for its time. Powered by 2× Klimov TV3-117VMA engines, it reaches ~310 km/h, with a range of ~545 km and ceiling of 5,500 m. Armament includes a 30mm cannon, up to 12 Vikhr ATGMs, rockets, and bombs across 6 hardpoints. It evolved into the two-seat Ka-52 Alligator for broader operational use.
